“It is axiomatic that individual liberties are secondary to the requirement of national security and internal civil order.” That's the Heritage Foundation telling Ronald Reagan what to do in 1980. Whether you're NPR or an area Substacker or just an American talking about who believes what with someone employed by or under the influence of one of their subcults, start there and don't move swiftly on to something else. Or better, ask them if Joe Biden won fairly in 2020. Aw Shucks Fascism isn't that hard to spot. Don’t sit still for it. Don’t play along with it.
When we smooth over the abusive behavior of others to avoid seeming disagreeable, we’re Aw Shucks fascists too. It costs us everything.
