On the one hand, I was saddened when Intervarsity Press decided Life’s Too Short To Pretend You’re Not Religious was no longer their jam. On the other, this gave me an opportunity to check in with beloved friend and editor extraordinaire, Lil Copan, on the subject of Broadleaf Books and what might be possible. A lot of my favorite people in the world are partnering with them, and, truth be told, there are rhetorical moves in the first edition which, over the last few years, have struck me as a little overbearing and…not who I want to be. So, here’s the new one. It’s revamped with an Afterword and everything. It’ll be a few months, but I’d be awfully grateful for every pre-order. This here Substack is completely free. If you’re wanting to do me a financial solid or get me an early birthday present (by buying my book), now’s your chance.
I also still have a bunch of copies of the old one. If you’re interested, I’ll mail you a very-partially-hand-revised copy for sixteen bucks (which includes postage and handling) with a note or most anything you want me to write or draw within it. There’s a limited supply which, I suppose, might make it something of a collector’s item in one timeline or another. You can “DM” me on Twitter or e-mail me at jdaviddark AT gmail DOT com.
Thank you for your time and attention.
UPDATE: I’ve received a query or two requesting some clarification concerning the rhetorical moves mentioned above. Some clarification on this subject appears in the Afterword. For now, I’m happy to say more about it (and maybe even list a couple) in a handwritten note within a very-partially-hand-revised copy upon request.
Pre-ordering, blessings and all of that David!
Ordered. Thank you for your good work. Looking forward to reading this one again.
