Perhaps, within the interior of the heartbodymind, we all have the opportunity to revisit past selves. But not all of us can change our positions/stances/testimonies publicly without risking something substantial. Some of us could get cut off or disavowed by our families or lose access to affordable healthcare were we to circle back on something we’re expected to believe & play along with &…yes…normalize.
There’s overhead & freedom of mobility to consider. Times are tough. I say all this to note that I feel very privileged to have been afforded the opportunity to change my mind out loud without too much fear. I want this for everyone living. I don’t take for granted the chance to revise and partially repent of portions of three of my books.
There is, I recently found out, a small but spirited demand for copies of these books with personal inscriptions which express—not shame & regret exactly—but awareness of the process that is me. To love a self is to love a process.
So…it’s a limited supply, but if you’re a completist and you lack one in The Complete But Also Still Underway Works of David Dark reach out & we can discuss terms. Thank you for hanging in here with me, beautiful people. We are a beginning.
Editor’s note: That’s a photo of me in my Religion and Science Fiction class. The words written on the board are CULTure, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, LARP, Kayfabe, Total Energy Dominance, and kayfabe. Dorothy Day Dark took the picture.
Hold up. Religion and science fiction class???
