What you behold up top is a piece of paper upon which is printed the lyrics to “The Yes Men” by buulb. Different versions can be located on the internet. Here’s one. Here’s another. buulb has been Bulb and still is but copyright concerns mean Bulb is buulb for now. buulb is always, in one way or another, J. Todd Greene.
“The Yes Men” is on my mind lately, because Todd invited me to attempt to sing it in front of people a couple weeks ago. I gave it my best shot and got all moved at the end, because it hit me anew as I sang it. I don’t know what anything’s about, but “The Yes Men,” to me, is about being an artist in Nashville. I don’t know how it lands with you, but I’d welcome words on the subject. Perhaps it speaks to other situations in which a mind-body interfaces with other mind-bodies who’ve succumbed to fear. Find your own way back.
I’m gonna sing it again on a not-yet-determined date. Others will sing other buulb songs. I shouldn’t speak for Todd and others. But I have a feeling that anyone who wishes to sing a buulb song into a microphone as if they were the lead vocalist of buulb would be given the chance.
You can ask Todd about the images above, but I’d like to say this: The big one in the middle reminds me of some of what I saw while watching Princess Mononoke with Todd last night.
Readers of Dark Matter might recall that The Eternal Show (in it’s “An Accidental Exorcist” iteration) occurred during the month of February. Y’all would be right to recall that, but now it’s back again at Yin Yang Tea (265 White Bridge Road).
The Eternal Show (That’s Todd, Alex Sager, Andrew Harding, Linda Greene, & Dr. John Greene) is an evolving, never-ending art installation constructed anywhere, anytime. The imagery explores Eternal Recurrence, Shadow-Self Integration, Surveillance, Free Will, Control, Assembly and Disassembly. It is an illustrated/sculpted/painted layout of the lifecycle of each artist of the Hoo Collective with the goal of more deeply examining the influences and events of their entire lives. The Collective aims to foster and encourage self-examination, connection to one’s own Personal Genius, and the overcoming of fear.
Come out and/or listen to buulb and tell me what you think and/or be your own eternal show.
