The Moral To The Story
Reminder: If you say there is a moral to the story that's you deciding it, not the story. This is something you are doing to make the story comfortable for you and people like you, which probably means something about the story made you uncomfortable.
Editor’s note: I don’t want to offer anything here that will distract you from reading what Dr. McEntire said a third or fourth time and then clicking on his name and looking into his published work. The short passage above is eye-rubbingly helpful and practical. One of the joys of my life is the fact that he spends so many daylight hours in an office a couple doors down from mine. I love talking meaning with Dr. McEntire. Time in his presence is often, in my experience, a reality check and also a breath of fresh air.
Editor’s note continued: The image above is from We’re All Going To The World’s Fair. It will be jarring viewing for some. But I’ve found it helpful in assessing the fact that elected officials in the beautiful state of Tennessee and across these United States are banking their moral legacies on disinformation and, relatedly, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
