To poison a nation, poison its stories. A demoralised nation tells demoralised stories to itself. Beware of the story-tellers who are not fully conscious of the importance of their gifts, and who are irresponsible in the application of their art: they could unwittingly help along the psychic destruction of their people.

Thank you for sharing this! It gave me an unexpected compassion for those who don’t want to be confronted by the more sinister truths of our own history. Uncomfortable/new information can feel like a poison? Now I’m thinking through the meaningful difference between poisoned stories and poisoned histories and I’m feeling overwhelmed but grateful for your challenge!
