David, thanks for reposting this on your Substack. I especially love the photos you added of Rev. Lawson and Dr. Bernard Lafayette probably on a Freedom Riders Bus back in the day and of Justin Jones surrounded by TN State Troopers a couple of years ago.
Thank you, Lynne! That photo was taken by my daughter as we stood behind Justin. This was summer 2020. The trooper was asked to grant Justin the six feet of social distancing commanded (at that time) by Mayor Cooper. He wouldn't. He was then asked to at least mask up. He would not. That's Justin offering him a mask he refused to take. The hole Reverend Lawson spied in Governor Lee's soul is, to my mind, present in this picture. Beloved community is too. Thank you, as ever, for your righteous witness among us.
