Next week begins my 2021 attempt to teach a class called Religion and Science Fiction. If a sufficient number of people implore me to do so, I’ll feel sufficiently incentivized to share our required readings. Somewhere early on we’ll get to talking about disinformation, and I’ll offer this definition from Philip Kindred Dick:
Please share your syllabus! We’ve just gone into full lockdown in Scotland and I was going to set my own sci fi and fantasy reading list, but I’d much rather have you do that for me since my syllabus would just be stabbing in the dark!
I’d love to see the syllabus. I’m still grateful I happened to take Dr. Dark’s first year seminar class as an 18 year old trying to figure out the world. I got exposed to Ursula K. LeGuin and Octavia E. Butler for the first time—two authors I didn’t really like at the time, to be honest, but who turned out to be some of the most important authors I’ve ever read.
I wish I could take your class. I love your writing, David, and you have helped me to sort through all kinds of prior indoctrination and examine it more closely. (And to let go of so much that is unhelpful or even damaging.) Thanks for what you bring to the world!
where's the link to unofficially audit the class?
👏 Share 👏 the 👏 required 👏 readings!

I would love to see the readings as well!

Like others, I too would love to see the syllabus (and audit if possible!)
Please share the readings :)
