Can affirm Leap of Faith is a tremendous film. I’m aware of at least 2 Lipscomb faculty members saw it over the weekend for which I for one was grateful. It remains there for another week. Also available to Belmont faculty and beyond. Highly recommend :)

At the recommendation of Kristen DuMez, we went to see the new documentary film “Leap of Faith” at the Green Hills multiplex. It follows 12 pastors over a 1-year time period as they talk about their theological differences and try to find common ground. With mixed results. The biggest divide they focus on is homosexuality, and it is clearly painful to two of the pastors—one a lesbian UMC pastor and the other a Reformed pastor with two nonbinary children. Worth seeing if it’s still there. I hope it finds an audience. We were the only people there for the 6:30 showing on Thursday.

I have no idea what this mysterious post is. Sigh...alas, apparently I lack a sufficiency of hipness, slickness or cool. If only I knew the secret handshake. I once shook Jackie Derrida's hand. Does that count?

Aha! Found the handshake. Read the article linked thereby. Two reactions: 1. Need better indicator of the link. 2. My undergrad college, also evangelical (Wesleyan holiness variety) went through this last year while also selecting a new prez. Students sat in all Spring quarter outside the president's office suite, then greeted the new prez in the fall with many, many pennants, banners and signs adorning the entry of the campus. They were erected overnight,.to no avail. The alert maintenance staff removed them by the dawn's early light. Interestingly, a campus that was 99 & 44/100s% Ivory soap pure in the 60s now is heavily third world populated. Two of the last three alumni mags featured African-Americans involved with the school on their covers. African mission scholarships and athletic rides have given way to financial realities. If you can afford to go, you are welcome, even if you're uncloseted and/or suspiciously other-appearing. Of course, there's a different rule for faculty. In fact, it was students upset about faculty hiring that got the students upset in the first place.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, David!

Sad but not surprising. I have two family members who are on the faculty at Lipscomb and another who is pursuing an MA there. None of them agree with this viewpoint. I'm sure they won't say anything in the school environment, but I can't be sure about their personal social media accounts. Concerned that the mullahs might go search people's profiles looking for heretics.
